In yet another episode of "What will the French think of next?" (EMD: Motorcycles on Ice), Yamahas office in France apparently hit the wine a bit early one morning and thought the R1 would make a better version of Yamahas official motodaventure than the SuperTénéré.
Six-time Dakar Rally champion, Stephane Peterhansel, who may already have too much sand in his head, agreed, and he hit the dunes with the R1 and a set of hand-carved Michelins.
